Recreational Gymnastics

Barb Ellerman
Barb has worked at FunNastics for approximately seven years. She grew up doing gymnastics and cheerleading. Currently, she works with children as an occupational therapist. She enjoys combining these passions and watching children learn new skills and brave new tasks. Her favorite classes to teach are the Movers & Shakers and the preschool classes. “Thanks for sharing your children with me—they are a real inspiration!”
Becky Neiheisel
My name is Becky Neiheisel and I have been at Silverlake/Fun Nastics since May of 2006. I have been involved in gymnastics, dance, cheerleading, figure skating and many other sports that deal with muscle and body strength. I believe sports, such as gymnastics, are important in a child’s development because of the major physical benefits as well as the coordination it involves. Fun Nastics is a great program that incorporates a great challenge but is also a lot of fun. This program is great for all ages and body types. I believe gymnastics is a great sport for any girl or boy to begin if they want to improve their physical development and strength. I enjoy working with all the different children and seeing each child succeed. It is an honor to witness a child master a skill or improve their abilities. Gymnastics is a great sport that helps a child develop more than just skills. A gymnast will learn a great amount of self confidence, social skills and ways to conquer many different challenges. I love my job and always have a positive attitude. It is very rewarding to see my attitude reflect onto a child and his or her gymnastics abilities.
Kristie Bey
Hi, my name is Kristie Bey and I will be your child’s gymnastics teacher for this session! I have been with Silverlake since August of 2007, and started with FunNastics shortly after that. I also work in Kids Club, Quest, After School Program and Birthday parties on the weekends. I was a 2008 graduate of Holy Cross High School and am currently a Cosmetology student at Gateway Community and Technical College. I have 16 years of previous dance experience and 4 years of high school and college cheerleading. Though I do not have a strong gymnastics background, I was very eager to come into FunNastics and learn as much as I could when I started. I believe my dance, cheer, and various other sports team experiences have helped to make me the coach I am today. I value every child in all of my classes and I want them to get as much as they can out of our programs. Each child should benefit from every aspect of their class. As their coach, I want them to reach all of their personal goals as well as the goals for the class. There is nothing greater than seeing a small child learn a new trick, or an experienced gymnast master a higher skill. I hope that your child will have a boosted self esteem and new confidence, as well as staying healthy, exercising and most importantly having fun! Working with the children is the best part of my job and its rewarding everyday! I look forward to this session and seeing you all around Silverlake!
Libby Cento
My name is Libby Cento and I have been involved with Fun Nastics for over 10 years. I have been a dance, cheerleader and gymnast since age 3. I believe the benefits of gymnastics extend beyond the physical benefits for children. I have watched thousands of kids blossom from discipline, structure, praise and self confidence. All gained from a challenging program, such as Fun Nastics. My biggest reward each class is the smile on the face of a child that has mastered a new skill. I am grateful to be a part of their growth and development. I became involved with Fun Nastics to get back to the kids. I taught dance and gymnastics in grade and high school and missed the kids during college. As a mother now I still look forward to coming to work with so many wonderful children. Finally, I want to make parents award that any child can benefit from a gymnastics program, especially Fun Nastics. More is learned in class than gymnastics. Parents should value the lessons learned of standing in line, listening to an authority figure, conquering challenges, socialization and most importantly, self confidence.
Missy Chalk
I have been teaching gymnastics and dance for seven years and joined the Fun Nastics team in September of 2009. Growing up I spent my time taking gymnastics lessons. Gymnastics is a great way to gain flexibility, strength and a positive body image. You can use gymnastics for any sport that you may play later on in life. Seeing a huge smile on a child’s face after learning a new skill is one of the biggest joys I have of being an instructor.
Shannon Gemeinhardt
I have been involved in gymnastics for more than 20 years. I was a competitive gymnast in my youth and have coached gymnastics and tumbling since college. I joined the Silverlake family in 2008 and have enjoyed every minute of it! Gymnastics is a great sport for children of all ages and physical abilities. Not only is it good physical activity, it also it great for a child\'s self esteem. The best part of my job is seeing a student accomplish a new skill. Hearing them say “Ms. Shannon, I did it!” and seeing the big smile on their face makes my day! Because gymnastics is an individual sport, they are always a winner!
Hanna McGuire
I have been involved in Fun Nastics since Spring 2010. I took gymnastics for four years and did competitive cheerleading for ten years, including in college at NKU. I love teaching children new skills and watching that light go on as they begin to understand and develop the skill. Children are my passion; I know that each child is unique and every student has the ability and initiative to learn new skills. It is all a matter of the teacher taking time to show them and work with them. The Silverlake Fun Nastics program is a wonderful place to work, I truly enjoy every minute of it!
